Social Networking Not Encroaching on Online Dating Sites

As of 2008, according to a post on the Online Dating Industry Journal, people looking for love were willing to pay for the efficiencies of online dating sites. The online dating industry hadn’t yet been replaced by social networking sites.
And, even with the astonishing growth of Facebook, there are many other indications that online dating still hasn’t been replaced by social networking.
What was evident in 2008, and is even more evident now, (this story just aired on ABC Nightline) is that singles are bored with first generation dating sites, that they want more for their time and money spent online, and that the stage is set for a new kind of online dating community, one that emulates real world flirting, courtship, and romance in many of the same ways the best social networking sites emulate other aspects of real life.
